At Jules Seltzer, we’re celebrating the start of Spring with Fritz Hansen’s exclusive anniversary collection, featuring a limited edition tribute to Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Egg Chair.

Originally designed in 1958, Jacobsen’s Egg Chair was first imagined to furnish the SAS Royal Copenhagen Hotel when it opened in 1960. Since then, it continues to be manufactured by Fritz Hansen and is widely considered Jacobsen’s signature piece.

After 60 years of the Egg Chair, Frtiz Hansen has released a tribute dressed in gold: Crafted with premium leather and a base plated in 23 carat gold, this stunning piece can only be truly appreciated in person.

The Egg Chair is styled in our showroom with a superfine Merino wool throw in an earthy tone, as well as a pouf designed by Cecelia Manz for Republic of Fritz Hansen in 2016. The pouf’s top is made from leftover leather used in the production of the Egg and Swan Chairs.

With its soft touch, the 60th edition Egg features aniline pure leather, which tells the story of time through scars and other one-of-a-kind markings. Each chair’s coloring will darken and obtain a more vintage look with time, making every item even more unique after sun exposure and usage. Meanwhile, the star base’s gold coating shines with a satin-like gloss that lives up to the design’s limited-edition expression.

A limited number of 60th Edition Egg Chairs have been made, with only 1,958 pieces in circulation. Each chair will feature a special 60th anniversary leather engraving and is available until 31st December 2018.

The 60th Anniversary Collection also features a similarly stunning edition of the Swan chair, numbered 1-1,958 and molded with the same  leather and gold-plated base. In addition, Fritz Hansen presents a Drop Chair upholstered in durable, stain-resistant Sera Fabric from ROHI.
